Last week, the first presidential debate since Vice President Kamala Harris became the nominee set the stage for the rest of this election. In prime time, an audience of more than 68 million viewers saw the very different futures that Trump and Harris are offering the American people.

In Kamala Harris’s future, greedy corporations will be held accountable, our fundamental freedoms will be protected, and Michigan families will keep more of their hard-earned money in their pockets — instead of lining the pockets of billionaires at the cost of the middle class like Trump wants.

Trump called America “a failing nation.” Vice President Harris offered a patriotic, optimistic vision that showed the stark contrast between the two candidates.

In a second Trump presidency, we would see the same dangerous, extremist policies of his first term but amplified by Project 2025’s detailed plans to rig our economy and our democracy for the 1%. In a Kamala Harris presidency, she would be a president for all Michiganders — and continue to ensure that a brighter future is built here in Michigan. She offers us a new vision for what our country could look like, where our children have more rights than we do, not less, where hard work earns a living wage, and where we can finally turn the page on the darkness and division of Donald Trump.

Vice President Harris is offering a New Way Forward while Donald Trump is running to enact his cruel, vindictive and authoritarian agenda that would roll back Americans’ rights and freedoms, hurt the middle class, and threaten our democracy.

Vice President Harris is a fighter for the people. From her days as a prosecutor to her work as Vice President, she has defended the rights of the American people by standing up to predators, scammers, and powerful interests.

She grew up in a middle-class home as the daughter of a working mom. She believes that when the middle class is strong, America is strong, and will make growing the middle class a defining goal of her presidency.

That’s why she will create an Opportunity Economy where with hard work and ambition, everyone has a chance to compete and a chance to succeed – from buying a home to starting a business and building wealth. She will start by bringing down costs – from housing to groceries and prescription drugs – so that every American has the opportunity to not just get by, but get ahead:

• She’ll cut taxes for more than 100 million Americans and help small businesses and entrepreneurs grow and thrive.
• She’ll pass the first ever federal ban on corporate price gouging on food and groceries.
• She’ll stop corporations and land speculators from buying up homes and raising prices. She’ll make housing more affordable by building 3 million new homes in part through a new home builder tax credit, and help more Americans experience the pride of homeownership by giving up to $25K in down payment assistance for first-time homebuyers.

Kamala Harris trusts women and believes the government shouldn’t come between a woman and her doctor. She will proudly sign a law to restore reproductive freedom.

After decades in law enforcement, she knows the importance of safety and security: She will sign the bipartisan bill to secure the border and she will fight for the freedom to live safe from gun violence.
